Brief history of Chevening Scholarship.
chevening is a scholarship program is sponsored by British Government; open for foreign students who seek to undertake a 1 year MSc program in any university in UK. The program has been in existence for close to 40 years now.
The scholarship beneficiaries are selected from countries around the world and only individuals who demonstrate excellent academic abilities, strong leadership qualities and skills needed to make the world a better place are given preference in the selection.
At the end of the application period, applicants who meet the standards are invited for interview at a designated place within their home country. the scholarship board usually open the application portal around August and the portal closes by November every year.
Application for the 2025-2026 academic session is currently ongoing and application can be submitted at the official website of the scholarship giver.

Eligible criteria:
- applicant must have secured admission to pursue an MSc program in any university in UK prior to the scholarship application.
- applicant must not be a holder of british passport; only foreign students are considered.
- must show prove of completion of a university degree in any reputable institution around the world.
- must possess strong leadership qualities.
Required documents:
- scanned copy of the data page of one's international passport,
- scanned copy of university degrees,
- copies of university transcript,
- prove of provisional offer of admission from a UK university.
- letter of recommendation from a present employer, head of department or dean of faculty.
- referees
- written essay or letter of expression of interests
- passport photograph etc.
