The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released an official statement addressing concerns surrounding the recently released 2025 WASSCE results for school candidates. According to a press release issued on Thursday, August 7th, 2025, WAEC acknowledged the discovery of technical issues during its internal review of the results.
The Council stated that the glitches were linked to the implementation of a new paper serialization system, a method introduced to curb examination malpractice and enhance the credibility of the examination process. This system was applied in key subjects such as Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics.
Temporary Denial of Result Access
Due to the technical bugs identified, WAEC has temporarily suspended access to the WASSCE (SC) 2025 results on its online result checker portal. Candidates who have already checked their results are advised to re-check after 24 hours, as corrections are currently underway.
“We extend our deep and sincere apologies to all affected candidates and the general public. We appreciate their patience and understanding,” the statement read.
WAEC Reaffirms Commitment to Integrity
The Council emphasized its dedication to fairness, professionalism, and transparency. It assured the public that the issue is being addressed with urgency and that access to corrected results will be restored shortly.
WAEC concluded by thanking Nigerians for their continued trust, stating:
“Thank you for always counting on our integrity and reposing confidence in us to render quality service to the Nigerian child.”
