Tragedy as 19-Year-Old Girl Takes Her Own Life Over 2025 UTME Result
In a deeply heartbreaking twist, a 19-year-old girl identified Faith Timilehin who lived at Ikorodu Area of Lagos reportedly commited sucide on Monday morning over her poor UTME score.
Faith who scored 190 in the just conclude 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) organized by the Joint Admission Maricualtion Board was said to have scored higher during the last 2024 UTME and have applied to study microbiology this year.

After the result was released, the liitle girl reportedly took harmful substances which claimed her life the source said.
Painfully, she was offered JAMB provisional admission which was sent to her personal email and this was only discovered about 30 mimutes after death.
Following the release of the result, there has been public decry over the poor results chnned out for students by the admission body, parents have allegdely occupied in some JAMB offuces to protest the nature of the reslts given out to students.
During the exams, there were series of technical glitches which occoured in almost all the CBT cenrters making some students unable to login for the exams while some were logged out and scripts submitted before they could finish according to candidate who sat for the exam in one of the centers around Benin, Edo State capital.

JAMB in an official statement, have announced through her X hande that there would be an investigation into the cause of the glitches stating that some results have not been released because of this over cases relating to examination malpractce.
A mental health specialist have advised on the need to counsel candidtes on the possible outcome of every examinations, letting them bear in mind that poor results is not a fatal end, it doesn’t neccesarily mean bleak future or admission denied and this will help reduce the incidence of depression and sucidal thoughts.
