Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the UBC Beyond Tomorrow Scholars Award, you must:
- Must be a Black student (African, African-Canadian, African-American, Afro-Caribbean)
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person in Canada
- Apply to UBC directly from high school or transfer from another post-secondary institution
- Meet all UBC undergraduate admission requirements
- Demonstrate financial need
- Be applying for your first undergraduate degree
- Note: Award consideration applies only to your first-choice campus and degree program in your UBC application
Required Application Materials
To be considered for the award, applicants must submit a complete application package consisting of the following:
- Student Application Form
- Description of Circumstance:Explain your personal, family, and financial background, Describe your identity and how you’ve contributed to your school, family, or community, Discuss your aspirations at UBC and how this award will impact your journey
- Parent/Guardian Form: This form outlines your household financial situation, Required for students who have attended high school in the past 48 months. If not applicable or unavailable, explain your situation in the description above
- Reference Form:Should come from someone familiar with your character and financial need. Acceptable referees include teachers, counselors, principals, coaches, supervisors, doctors, or community leaders
